The Annual Havurah Gift Guide - 5783

The season of hot beverages and thick sweaters is upon us. As Havurah’s self-proclaimed shopping expert, I thought it only right for me to publish our annual Chanukah gift guide. Our list includes some staff picks along with some spins on a few timeless classics. I guarantee these presents are so good, only one will be enough to last all eight nights.

For the Balaboosta:

Laura ashley x Batsheva apron & mitt set in Charlbury

This apron and mitt set hits the perfect balance between functionality and fashionable. Gift it to someone who seeks luxury in the kitchen, but can’t commit to the Le Creuset just yet. It also comes in different patterns, beware indecisive shoppers.

For the Diehard:

This shirt design, nicknamed “& shirts”, was first created as Beatles merchandise in 2001 in Amsterdam. We’ve all owned a version of this shirt– mine being a One Direction version. Today you have the chance to wear it with some real nachas. Buy this shirt for the shtark learner, the scholar, or the modox mensch.

For the Anxiety-Riddled:

We all have a friend who’s in need of some R&R (emphasis on the recreation). Now, they can do it in style. Store it with your liquor, no one will be the wiser. Remember to share some with your friends at Havurah!

For the Artist:

Judaica Standard Time X SUNFISH NYC Menorah

Typical households have metal or ceramic menorahs, but you don’t want to be like everyone else–you’re different. This menorah is a show stopper, a piece that doesn’t need to be stored away in the garage after the Hanukkah season. A noteworthy mention: the stones aren’t fixed to the base. Hello, year round candle holders.

For the Reader:

This high quality metal bookmark is sure to last all year round. Say goodbye to the flimsy plastic bookmark you bought 6 years ago from Barnes and Noble. You know the one. With the tassel. This bookmark helps you get into the holiday spirit, each page you turn.

For the Collector:

Challah! Por Favor - B & H Tee

This shirt can only be bought in person, making it the ideal present. You shlepped for this, and it was worth it. Gift this shirt to someone who will cherish it as much as their Supreme shirts. I mean, C’mon, the challah speaks for itself.

For the Heimish:

Candles are always difficult to buy online. Will the scent ever actually match up to the description? The answer: Would I ever recommend something not worth buying? A fellow Havurah staff member made it clear this is the best scent. We’re trustworthy, take the leap.

For the Commuter:

Before you ask, yes, this is the largest pack they sell. Put them in your freezer for weeks of delectable breakfasts. Buy this for someone who loves convenience and fine dining, because that’s what this is. A New Yawk (to be pronounced in accent) bagel is one of a kind! Except for when they come in an 18 pack.

For the Frivolous:

Our Place Shabbat Set

It’s cheugy to buy Judaica on Ben Yehuda now, haven’t you heard? This Shabbos Set covers all the bases while also looking absolutely fab. Plus, the challah pan can be used throughout the week. It’s 2022, the year of sheet pan dinners.

For the Bold

Susan Alexandra’s Star of Susan Necklace

We all love a proud Jew. Buy this for your edgy friend, your teenage sister, or me. Susana Alexander makes Judaica fun and we’re here for it. Let’s boycott the plain, silver Star of David necklace– together.
